there was a karata champion near my home he hit someone next day the person come with a gun and shot him dead in one second

violence begets violence
the karate-ka that got shot is the very reason why i tell people to walk away. i had to bury some student because they ignored that simple rule. you may be able to take the person quite easy, but some do come back for you either with friends or well armed. and being robbed is not worth your life

1. martial arts is for self defense. it is better to walk away then to have a confirmation. and avoid the violence.
2. be modest and humble. perfect you character
3. respect others as you what them to respect you.
4. discipline
5. self confidence

  1. From personal experience, some who choose guns and other weapons do not know how to properly use the same, such as standing too close and then ones training may make all of the difference in the world.

May it be well with you (and your god).

  2. You make a point about a gun attack. If someone simply pulls a gun, points and fires, there is very little you can do to defend yourself.

    1. Unprovoked or random violence (even if the victim had a previous altercation with the attacker) is extremely hard to predict and adequately defend against.

That being said, the majority of violent crimes are preceeded by some threat to the victim.

    2. Proper self defense training in any of the martial arts you have named can greatly increase your chances of survival in situations where you know violence is imminent. Even if weapons are involved, at this point a well trained practitioner will have a higher chance of survival in the event of a physical attack. Every self defense school (should) teaches that when a weapon is involved your best bet is to give up whatever they ask rather than risk your life. But the training is in place for the attacks where violence is unavoidable,

    3. Reprisals are rare, your example is the exception to the rule, when the victim does not the attacker(s).

    4. In depth knowledge and practice in martial arts can at the very least stave off an attack long enough to involve proper authorities.

    5. Many attackers will choose a victim that appears weak. If the little guy or girl starts cracking skulls off the pavement then most attackers will run because it’s no longer worth the trouble.

    6 god bless you all

I think that followed the format you were looking for, I may have strayed a little. Hope it was helpful to you.

    3 self discipline

    5 patience

None of the above have anything to do with having the ability to fight well but more with day to day life in general.

The karate champ that got shot probably got himself shot defending his rep and ego as a "karate champ"than anything else .But he probably had an instructor who thought winning titles was the whole deal and the only point of training.
He needed to develope points 1 and 3 and 4 .

The ancients must have wondered the same thing
‘what good is this when the ruler authoritys have men with swords spears arrows etc."
Fortunately they passed it on anyway.

  8. 1. Martial and fighting arts make you more capable of dealing with that situation through the proper training, practice and repetition of techniques if the person is foolish enough to stand close enough with a weapon held on you. That is one of the advantages of a weapon like a gun-they don’t need to be close enough to you to hurt or kill you with it. Oddly enough most shootings though take place at less than six feet if you look at DOJ statistics on violent crime. Not everyone is a good shot or expert marksmen or trained in the use of a weapon.

    2. Martial and fighting arts build your strength, agility and reactions giving you a better chance of surviving an attack and more capable of dealing with it from a physical stand-point whether a gun is involved or not. That’s also why people in law enforcement tend to work out, hit the weights and work on their pugilistic skills. Even an aerobics class and weight training program will make you more physically capable of doing something than you otherwise would be if you did not work out.

    3. Good martial arts training helps increase your awareness to help you better avoid such situations from the start and gives you some measure of preventative actions and choices to make. This type of training is also made available sometimes through various law enforcement programs to the general public but most people don’t take advantage of it or learn anything about it. Martial arts along with law enforcement are pretty much the only two places where this kind of scenario training is taught, acted out, and practiced on a regular basis if it is a good program where self-defense is emphasized.

On a personal note I have had to deal with a drawn weapon on six occasions. One of those individuals is no longer with us and the others fared somewhat better but never have had the opportunity to draw it on me again nor would I afford them that opportunity. Three of those situations involved long barrel weapons That does not mean that I have a great chance if a person walks in with an Uzi and stands thirty feet away and empties the magazine. If on the other hand they put that gun in my face I will have much better chance than otherwise. Having had training in martial arts and law enforcement it defintily gave me a better chance and those two things are critical I think and go hand-in-hand with one another.
